Breif History
On November 7, 1940, the National Land Settlement Administration (NLSA) founded many barrios in the Cotabato areas. One of this is Barrio 8 which consisted of 52 heads residing. Before the 2nd World War, the first Bo. Lieutenant was Ernesto Sarabia. He was succeeded b Carlos Mariano and consequently b Mr. Bustamante. The barrio was relocated and it was headed b Mr. Agaton De Ala as the Bo. Lieutenant. He was also the same person who instituted the first primary school, which had Mrs. Maligad as the teacher. On August 15, 1954, Philippine Congress Executive Order under the administration of Pres. Elpidio Quirino requested LASEDECO to charge the numerical meaning of all settlement created barrios into constituted names. Consequently, Barrio 8 was changed into Barangay Saravia, honoring the name of the first Bo. Lieutenant. This happened under the incumbency of Bo. Lieutenant Jose Aliligay.
