27 Barangay of the city re-showcase talent through a cooking contest

The Koronadal City’s 27 barangays headed by their respective barangay captains re-showcase talent through cooking contest. This is in line with this year’s 45th Nutrition Month Culmination program with a theme “Kumain nang Wasto at Maging Aktibo, Push Natin, “To! The said celebration is a yearly activity in compliant to PD 491 of 1974.

Further, native chicken and organic vegetables were the main ingredients during the cooking contest in which three groups of food must present such as “Go, Glow and Grow”

The celebration was attended by City Mayor Atty. Eliordo U. Ogena. Also present in the activity were city councillors Prechie Louella Ogoy, Handel Dee Cadellino-Cubilo and Mylene May Bascon-de Guzman.  In his speech, Mayor Ogena  emphasized that right nutrition is not only mean right food to eat, instead, it is always anchored to the clean environment. He also believes the traditional saying “health is wealth.”

On the other hand, three barangays dominated during the cooking contest. The winners were as follows with corresponding cash prize and recipes:

1st Place:  Barangay Morales received Php5, 000 with a recipe of “Ginataang papaya with corn and native chicken”

2nd Place:  Barangay San Roque- Php3,000 with Guchick Enlay recipe

3rd Place: Barangay Gen. Paulino Santos-Php2, 000 and a recipe of “Ginataang native chicken with mixed vegetables”

Non-winning participants receive Php1, 000 as consolation prize. The nutrition month culmination was held at Rizal Park, Barangay Zone IV, on July 26, 2019.
