Barangay captains take capability building to surf islands

November 29, 2019

To respite from external pressures and community realities, leaders from the 27 barangays travelled to Siargao Islands, Surigao del Norte for a capability and team building activity while taking advantage of the relaxing nature’s treat -the tropical skies and mighty waves.

Their purpose of going is not only to take a quick breather from the tolling duties, but also to reflect and brainstorm on the high and low tides of public service particularly in bridging the Barangay and the local government  in the current year.

Organized by the Association of Barangay Captains headed by ABC President Hon. Gregorio Presga and the Community Affairs Office under the Office of the City Mayor, this annual activity aims to strengthen the bond between the barangay captains and to develop an open environment in relation to speaking out issues and concerns in each barangay.

“Ari kita karon diri hindi para mag lingaw-lingaw… kundi para makita gid naton ang dapat nga i-address naton pag abot sa [respective] nga mga barangay”, Hon. Gregorio Presga emphasized as he delivered his opening remarks.

Activities in the team building includes a fruitful discussion between the barangay captains on matters concerning  additional fuel allowance, peace and order, effective community organizing, prompt delivery of services and many others, all duly noted by some accompanying staff of the Mayor’s Office.

The said activity is expected to sort out major priorities for barangay development in the coming year 2020.
