City Govt releases 17 million sum to combat COVID-19, ASF

In response to the threat of global pandemic reaching the city, quick allocation of the Local Finance Committee, Bids and Awards Commitee, and approved resolution by the Sangguniang Panlungsod led to the prompt appropriation of emergency procurement and 1st Supplemental Investment Plan for the local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management fund.

The said fund is intended for the purchasing of supplies, food and equipment in the city’s current efforts to fight COVID-19 including the African Swine Fever (ASF).

The Sangguniang Panlungsod filed and approved a resolution on March 17, 2020 authorizing the use of up to 12 Million pesos for the city’s initiatives and efforts against COVID-19 ASF.

More than 1.2M of the said amount goes to the prevention of ASF and the remaining 10.8 Million is alloted for the prevention and mitigation measures of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the Local Finance Committee and the Committee for Bids and Awards likewise released its own resolution, granting the release of emergency procurement fund worth 5 Million pesos—all dedicated to support the departments constituting the COVID-19 Task Force.

All the mentioned budgets for COVID-19 includes the needed medical equipment, personal protective equipment (PPEs) for frontline workers, Quarantine supplies for Persons Under Investigation (PUIs), thermal scanners, sanitation supplies, testing kits and misting machines, meals, and other supplies.
