Established quarantine site now focuses on going further
The Incident Management Team (IMT) is now focusing on going further enhancement on the city’s quarantine and isolation sites by providing it with fully equipped workforce and amenities.
Incident Commander Dr. Edito Vego in one of the IMT meetings stressed on the need to establish a clear quarantine procedure and policy in compliance to the DOH guidelines and adherence to infection prevention and control measures. He also said that strict rules must be followed in isolated quarantine areas (such as hotels and barangays), where the BHERTS and DOH nurses are tasked with intensive monitoring.
On the other hand, Dr. Vego emphasized on the prevailing needs, including adequate food, clothing, means of communication, and competent medical care. He highlighted the need to hire more trained personnel to supplement daily routine. He also said that these medical personnel should be equipped with basic personal protective equipment, commodities and good ventilation needed to deal with the clients. IMT also considered a sufficient number of other support staff who will be responsible for administrative work and cleaning services.
The quarantine and isolation facilities will be manned by a Manager who plays an essential role in the management. The management team is also comprised of people who will look into the operational management, logistics, manpower management, health monitoring and surveillance.
Once a positive Covid-19 case or Covid-like symptom is found from the returned Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) and Locally Stranded Individual (LSI), the person’s condition will be evaluated. Patients with milder symptoms will be transferred to an isolation facility, and patients with more severe symptoms will be admitted.
Meanwhile, the government has allocated sufficient funds for the smooth operation of both the quarantine and isolation facilities.
Persons under quarantine cannot be visited by members of their families or any person for the duration of their 14-day quarantine. This is why the quarantine protocols set by the city government does not meant to trouble or burden someone.
