KNCHS reaps championship at 1st Varsity Hip-hop Dance Competition

The Koronadal National Comprehensive High School (KNCHS) reaffirmed its brand as “Basta Batang KN-Sikat.” This was followed after their Hip-hop dance team dubbed as “Indak Sikat” reaped championship during Mindanao’s Best Dance Crew First Varsity Hip-hop Dance Champion.

The said school has also been a champion in drum and lyre competitions conducted during the opening of the 80th Founding Anniversary and 20th Hinugyaw Festival. On the other hand, among other winners include Marist Avenue of Notre Dame of Marbel University-Integrated Basic Education Department (NDMU-IBED) Senior High School as first runner-up and Bagong Saravia Varsity of Saravia National High School as second runner-up.

The  first varsity hip-hop competition was participated by 11 schools coming from the city of Koronadal that consists of the following groups:

  1. The Modified of Regency Polytechnic College
  2. Mega Crew of Bacongco National High School
  3. Maristreet of Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU)
  4. Marist Avenue of Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU-IBED) SHS
  5. Marist Movers of Notre Dame of Marbel University Junior High School
  6. Golden State Dance Ensemble of Golden State College
  7. G Rocks of Green Valley College
  8. Indak Sikat of Koronadal National Comprehensive High School (KNCHS)
  9. Dance on Site of Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges (RMMC)
  10. 6th Fourteen of STI College
  11. Bagong Saravia Varsity of Saravia National High School

Winners of the competition received cash of Php35,000, trophy and individual medals for the champion, while Php25,000, trophy and medal for the first runner-up and Php15,000, trophy and a medal for the second runner-up. The non-winning participants also received Php10,000 as a consolation prize.

Mayor Eliordo Ogena was then again felt so grateful for the talent, power, and energy he witnessed on the dance floor. Along with this, he assured not only the partakers but all the young ones in this city that their talents will not be wasted because his administration will create a program to utilize it and to showcase as well.  He stated further that what all it takes is a focus in every ability of the millennial for them to grow.

The said competition was performed on January 9, 2020, at South Cotabato Gymnasium and Cultural Center (SCGCC).
