Koronadal launches Barangay ‘Clean and Green’ contest

The city’s 27 barangays are vying for awards in
the local “Search for the Cleanest and Greenest Barangay”. The search is
envisioned to help transform all barangays of the city into clean, green,
healthy and livable communities.

According to KICP Manager Mr. Elric
Bartilaran, the city government acknowledges the need to give due
acknowledgement and incentives to barangays who have been actively contributing
to the clean and green programs and activities of the LGU.

A composite team of City ENRO, City Tourism and
Liga ng mga Barangay was formed to implement the clean and green contest and at
the same time setting the mechanics and criteria of the said search.

The judging committee will conduct visitation
and evaluation to the 27 barangays and will rate the barangays based on the
following criteria for the Major award; Functional Segregation and Source (15%),Waste
Water Management (10%), Vegetation and Beautification (20%), Support System
(15%), Sustainability Mechanism (20), Material Recovery Facility (20%),
Community Garden (20%) Backyard Gardening 20%, SWM School Model 20%.

Meanwhile, first prize winner will be receiving P50,000
cash incentive, second prize will receive P40,000 cash incentive, third prize
will receive P30,000 cash incentive. Further, the participating barangays will
also have the chance to garner minor prizes to include; Best Barangay Landscape
(Urban at Rural)- P10,000, Best in Social Participation (Urban at Rural)-
P10,000, Best Barangay SWM Ordinances and Practices-P10,000.

Meanwhile, in his message, Mayor Eliordo U.
Ogena motivated the local folks to actively participate in the city
government’s effort to make Koronadal clean and green. “Let us help together
in cleaning our city. We have a lot of initiatives and we will sustain our
campaign to ensure that our city will be environmentally friendly and landscape
green city”,
the Mayor said.
