Koronadal observes communal austerity amidst pandemic

April 18, 2020

As Koronadal braces for the impact of the deadly virus, the city goes under communal austerity to set the tone for the gravity of the nation’s state of public health emergency.

Effective until December 31, 2020, Executive Order 41 signed by City Mayor Eliordo Ogena on Friday, April 17 imposes the strict observation of “governmental and communal austerity” and prohibition of “thoughtless display of extravagance” in the city.

With the exemption of COVID-19 related actions, this prohibits all activities, public parties, large gatherings, and festivals.

Private parties are allowed provided guests are kept under 20 people and are advised to strictly practice public health safety measures.

The private sectors are advised to convert their celebrations into helping those in need, especially for our patients, health workers and frontliners.

Further, this executive order is to show the city’s sincerity and spirit of bayanihan with people across the globe, with more than 2 million cases and claimed 153,000 lives as of date.
