Lechon Enthusiasts, flock at Rizal Park

The atmosphere of Rizal Park is as savory as pork lechon after it flooded in the corner that calls for the lechon enthusiasts to flock together in the park. This is in line with the yearly competiton of commercial lechoneros in the City of Koronadal through cooking pork lechon palatably. In this year’s celebration, there were 10 commercial lechoneros participated in the event wherein five (5) of them took part for a contest while five (5) others chose to participate just to sell their product.

In a competition category, Randy Lechon Hause became Hall of Famer after being proclaimed as champion for three (3) consecutive years. Aside from this, it was also awarded as “Best in Preparation.” Among others, Nestor Ale got second place while Intrepido was ranked third place.

Lechon festival was a part of 8th Pigdiriwang on October 8, as one of the highlights of th 19th charter anniversary celebration spearheaded by Slaughter Master Rucelyn Almerol.
Prior to this, the City Veterinary Office headed by City Veterinarian Dr. Charlemagne Calo together with the UNACHO launched a campaign named “It is safe to eat pork” through barbeque (bbq) party at city hall ground. The activity is a part of the public announcement to show that the city is free from African Swine Fever.

The bbq party was attended by Mayor Eliordo U. Ogena together with the members of Sangguniang Panglungsod and the city employees.
