LGU Koronadal extends help to Batang Pinoy athletes

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Koronadal is extending help to athletes that will compete in 2019 Batang Pinoy National Final through free transportation and financial. City Sports Coordinator Jonari Javellana confirmed during media forum, “Talakayan sa City Hall.” He said the city government will provide one vehicle that will ferry athletes going to Puerto Princesa City, Palawan for them to be free from an expensive plane ticket. They will also receive Php8,000 as financial assistance. Athletes who garner gold medal will receive Php5,000 as cash incentive from city government as part of the motivation.

45 athletes of Koronadal team will take part nine (9) sporting events that include swimming, archery, arnis, dance sports, taekwondo, gymnastics, boxing, and triathlon.

As part of showing support and to inspire the team, Mayor Atty. Eliordo U. Ogena is expected to come before or during the opening of the sports event.

Batang Pinoy is a grassroots program of Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) was established through Executive Order (EO) No. 44, series of 1998. The EO declared the Philippine Youth Game-Batang Pinoy as the National Sports Development Program for Children and through E.O No. 79, series of 1999, as National Community Sports Program, it concentrates to develop comprehensive grassroots sports program focused on values formation inherent in the practice of sports and play.

This year’s Batang Pinoy National final will start on August 24-31 which participated by Provincial, City, Barangay LGUs and other organizations.
