New TESDA XII Office breaks ground

A groundbreaking ceremony was conducted on November 9, 2019 for the construction of the new Technical Education and Skills Training Development Authority (TESDA) Regional Office XII at the Regional Center site, Barangay Carpenter Hill.

In a brief ceremony, honored guest TESDA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña said in his message that the construction of the office aims to provide the people of Region XII with faster services and training assistance. Lapeña added that the TESDA Provincial Office of South Cotabato will comes next and he asserted on building the Provincial Training Center to serves as the province’s training arm.

Further, General Lapeña said that the key to reducing poverty in a society is through the  capacitation and training of the unemployed by providing them a livelihood and source of income. The director also emphasized the importance of Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the development of a community.

In addressing the lower strata in society, Lapeña stressed out that the government is providing hope and opportunity to everyone through their agency. He added that TESDA is the agency mandated to focus on poverty reduction, employment and livelihood which always starts in training and capability building.

On the other hand, City Mayor Eliordo U. Ogena expressed in his message that he was pleased that the Regional Center site in the City of Koronadal and now growing community. He added that it is where the future of the city is tied up, especially in TESDA.

“Marami pang naghihintay. Yung DICT, Regional Office ng DAR, yung probation and parole ay bibigyan ng isang area. We want to house all the regional centers in one place para mas mabilis yung mga transaction na ginagawa dito,” Mayor Ogena said. Also, with the recent earthquakes that struck Mindanao, the local chief executive believes that contractors should go for an extra mile than the usual standard in strengthening the building’s resistance against calamity and threats.

Meanwhile, through the effort of TESDA Regional Director Rafael Y. Abrogar II, Senator Manny Pacquiao extended fund for the construction of Regional Training Center that will be put up in Alabel, Sarangani Province.

Dir. Gen. Lapeña also assured the public that training for interested individuals are readily made available, and TESDA will always be ready to provide help and assistance.
