Quake fails to hinder City’s First UAP National Convention Hosting

November 8, 2019

The earthquake failed to hinder the city’s first hosting of United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) national convention. Despite the strong quake shook the city before the event, yet the lure of meeting and adventures remained.

City Architect Marvin Alegria said he felt so proud as he heard positive impressions and feedback coming from the visitors. According to him, visitors wished to stay here in the city as much as possible because of the Koronadal’s warm welcoming people and the beautiful scenic spots of the province, South Cotabato.

The UAP national meeting was witnessed by more or less 2,000 visitors including almost 700 participants that made hotels and other accommodations fully-booked. Alegria said some delegates joined the event with their family members and friends just to experience a fun and exciting adventure.

Along with the gathering, a Construction and Building Expo (CONBEX) was held at the city hall ground which was also open to the public. The CONBEX has showcased the new architectural products and technology.

The UAP National Convention had UAP President Arch. Benjamin K. Panganiban and Asec. Maximo L. Carvajal of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as their guest speaker. The said event was conducted on October 17-18, 2019, with a theme “Ugyon…Pagkakaisa” that shows culture, characteristics, and nice experiences.
