Koronadal eyes additional COVID-19 facility

December 14, 2020

The Center for Health Development-Region XII has chosen the City of Koronadal to be one (1) of the six (6) recipients of more than 500 sqm Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF) for the region.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will construct the 26-bed capacity healthcare facility at Barangay Concepcion this city. It will be funded with P10-M under “Bayanihan to Recover as One Act” and expected to be completed at the end of the first quarter of 2021.

Barangay Captain Mema Joquiño expressed that the project is a significant contribution as it can also be turned into a soon-to-be District Health Center in case the COVID-19 pandemic ends.

Prior to the construction, the said office is requesting the Local Government Unit (LGU) to identify a suitable site for the infrastructure.

Commitments such as the additional back-filling and rip-rapping of the site will be the LGU’s counter-part as well as the road right of way. Electrical and water, funding allocation for human resources and maintenance, and other operating expenses are all shouldered by the city government.

Among the ongoing health facilities construction in the city include the 32-bed capacity container van converted into isolation facility amounting to P23-M; and the three-story City Health Office (CHO) building completion that will house various medical services and cater a large number of patients.

At present, Barangay Concepcion is one of the three primary health districts in the city, including the Barangay General Paulino Santos (GPS) and the main CHO in Alunan Avenue.
